Dr. Maen Khareasat, Minister Plenipotentiary / Charge d’Affaires and Mr. Mahmoud Oglah Baniata, Cultural Counsellor, Embassy of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, visited COMSATS Headquarters and held a meeting with the Executive Director COMSATS, Dr. S.M. Junaid Zaidi and other officials on 11th September 2018. After the exchange of pleasantries, the Executive Director COMSATS stated that Jordan is an active and important Member State of COMSATS. He expressed willingness to develop further cooperation between COMSATS and Jordan. The Executive Director COMSATS also touched upon his visit to Jordan for participating at the World Science Forum 2017, which was one of the largest science gatherings in the Middle East, organized by the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and other international organizations during November 2017. During the afore-mentioned visit, the Executive Director also paid a courtesy call to H.R.H. Princess Sumaya bint Hassan, President RSS, and invited her to visit COMSATS Headquarters. Dr. Maen Khareasat valued COMSATS’ pivotal role in facilitating the socio-economic development of its member states, and appreciated its contributions in the fields of science and technology.

In order to nurture cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan, the Executive Director COMSATS invited the delegation comprising faculty member and students of Jordanian universities to Pakistan in order to develop cooperation for faculty exchange, scholarship opportunities and joint research and development activities. It was proposed that, subsequently, a similar delegation of Pakistani universities may visit Jordan. Dr. Maen extended gratitude for afore-mentioned proposals and expressed willingness to support and facilitate such visits. The meeting concluded with a pledge to deepen cooperation in S&T between COMSATS and Jordan for the good of the developing countries.
