H.E. Dr. Diego Fernando Hernandez Losada has been appointed as the first Deputy Minister for Knowledge, Innovation and Productivity in the newly established Colombian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCIENCIAS), formerly known as the Administrative Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (COLCIENCIAS), COMSATS’ focal point in Colombia.

The Ministry, has been constituted through signing of Decree 2226 by the President of Colombia, H.E. Iván Duque Márquez, on 5th December 2019. With its upgraded status, the institution (Ministry) will promote scientific and technological knowledge within the country to help build a more productive economy for the development of the country.

Previously, Dr. Losada has been serving as the Director General COLCIENCIAS. An industrial engineer by profession, Dr. Losada also has extensive academic and administrative experience as dean and vice chancellor of the National University of Colombia.
