COMSATS and AGECO JV developed 100% indigenous kits converting ICE vehicles to EV by retrofitting. An EV bike, made by COMSATS’ partner AGECO’s Technologist & CEO, M. Aslam Azad, handed to Dr. Fareed Sial on behalf of Executive Director COMSATS, Amb. Dr. M. Nafees Zakaria. This EV a result of the collaboration between COMSATS and AGECO Pvt. Ltd., (Also known as Economia) that was formally initiated on 25th August 2023 through an MoU at strengthening the Electric Vehicle (EV) industry in Pakistan and other COMSATS Member States.

The prototype of the said bike was successfully tested for its fuel economy and load bearing on inclined services and platforms. It has been shown to have the following benefits:

• Running cost Rs. 0.50 to 1.00 per km depending load & charging source;
• Environment friendly;
• Reduced import bill of oil;
• Indigenous production will open new avenues for development in EV field.

Dr. Sial who has since brought the bike for routine use concurs the fuel economy observation.

“Now a Days I’m using Electronic Bike and used to go daily to work place, it’s wonder for me only I Pay RS.20 cost daily, as monthly Cost is Just RS.600 only”, says Dr. Sial, “(before this) I was using petrol bike and it used to incur heavy cost, almost 20k to 25k per month.
