Upon invitation of Executive Director COMSATS, Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi, Mr. Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Pakistan, visited COMSATS Secretariat, Islamabad, on 22nd August 2019. Mr. Tiwana was apprised of COMSATS’ undertakings aimed at achieving sustainable development of the South through due utilization of S&T.
Presentation made by Dr. Zaidi during the meeting highlighted the scope and activities of the Organization as well as COMSATS’ future endeavours regarding establishment of varsities and R&D centres in its member states. Mr. Tiwana appreciated COMSATS’ considerable efforts for the capacity building of scientific community in developing countries. In particular, he was appreciative of COMSATS’ activities in the field of education.
Furthermore, Mr. Tiwana identified agriculture as an important area in Pakistan in which there is a need for building and sustaining capacities; and underscored the need for adopting latest technologies for increasing crop yield and agriculture production.
The meeting was successful in acquiring support of Mr. Tiwana’s good office for COMSATS’ on-going and future initiatives.
