Upon invitation of Mr. Naeem Ullah Khan, Director General (African Region) at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Government of Pakistan, two COMSATS’ officials visited the Ministry on 24th June 2022. The visit was aimed at briefing the MoFA officials about COMSATS and its activities. The visiting officials were Mr. Nisar Ahmad, Deputy Director (Systems) and Coordinator-Chairperson Office, and Mr. Farhan Ansari, Senior Assistant Director (Programmes). The meeting was also attended by Mr. Arshad Abbasi, Director (African Region) at MoFA.

Mr. Ansari gave an overview of COMSATS’ structure, membership, statutory organs, flagship projects, i.e., COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) and COMSATS Internet Services (CIS), as well as other ongoing programmes including capacity building activities. He also gave a detailed insight on COMSATS’ Network of International S&T Centres of Excellence and its activities. The Director General was appreciative of COMSATS’ accomplishments and undertakings.

Being the Coordinator of COMSATS’ Chairperson Office in Ghana, Mr. Ahmad informed the meeting about recent interactions with the office of Chairperson of COMSATS, Hon. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Republic of Ghana. The correspondence, it was mentioned, was especially held in the context of 4th General Meeting of the Commission and a sideline high-level international conference to be held in Accra.

Mr. Naeem Ullah Khan communicated that as conveyed by the High Commission of Pakistan in Ghana, Hon. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed desire to convene an international conference in his capacity as Chairperson of COMSATS. COMSATS’ officials welcomed this development, for which preparatory and coordination work would be expedited at COMSATS Secretariat.
