The centennial chapter of MobileMonday Global (MoMo) was launched in Islamabad, Pakistan on April 19, 2010. The chapter will be housed at the Centre for Advanced Studies and Telecommunication (CAST) of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT). Based in Helsinki, Finland, MoMo is an open networking organization for mobile industry professionals fostering cooperation and cross-border business development through virtual and live networking events to share ideas, best practices and trends from global markets.
“Pakistan is a huge mobile market where there is much innovation the world should be aware of. MobileMonday is excited to invite Pakistan’s mobile community to connect with peers globally,” said Jari Tammisto, Chief Executive Officer and President of MobileMonday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rector CIIT, Dr. S.M. Junaid Zaidi stated that Pakistan has immense potential to benefit from the global networking and peer support offered by MoMo.
The Pakistani chapter of MoMo will bring together the leading companies and personalities related to the Pakistani telecommunication business, enabling them to join the global family of MoMo; changing ideas; finding resources; developing domestic and international market place; and most of all, participating in the development of the mobile industry and mobile eco-system in Pakistan.
The event was attended by over 200 guests from diplomatic community, educational sector and telecommunication and IT industries in Pakistan, including the Minister for Science and Technology, and Minister of Education, Government of Pakistan. The Executive Director COMSATS distributed commemorative shields to sponsors of the event, and panelists for the open-discussion session.
