COMSATS Explores Strategic Collaboration with Kyrgyz Embassy to Expand Regional Engagement

On January 28, 2025, H.E. Avazbek Atakhanov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Pakistan, visited the COMSATS Secretariat in Islamabad and met with Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, Executive Director of COMSATS. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and higher education, as well as to discuss potential avenues for Kyrgyzstan’s accession to COMSATS.

During the engagement, Ambassador Zakaria provided a detailed overview of COMSATS’ mission, strategic priorities, and its role in promoting South-South cooperation through science and technology. He emphasized the significance of Central Asian participation in the organization’s multilateral framework and sought the Ambassador’s support in facilitating Kyrgyzstan’s accession to COMSATS as a Member State.

Ambassador Atakhanov welcomed the initiative and assured his support, expressing willingness to liaise with relevant Kyrgyz governmental bodies and academic institutions to explore formal engagement with COMSATS. Both parties also discussed the potential for joint programs in capacity building, research collaboration, and technological innovation.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen ties and initiate follow-up actions aimed at fostering sustainable partnerships between COMSATS and institutions in Kyrgyzstan, thereby advancing regional cooperation in science and technology.
