Dr. Jibin Sun is a professor at the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he served as Deputy Director General from 2012 to 2023. He earned his PhD in Biotechnology from the German Research Center for Biotechnology and later worked there as a scientist. With over 150 peer-reviewed papers and 100 patents, his engineered cell factories have been successfully commercialized, earning him multiple national and provincial awards. He initiated the COMSATS Joint Center for Industrial Biotechnology (CCIB) in 2021, which has been recognized by the UN as a model for South-South and triangular collaboration for sustainable development. His work also contributed to establishing the National Technology Innovation Center for Synthetic Biology and a high-end biofoundry core facility at TIB.
