On 21st May 2026, Director (Coordinator for International Partner Organizations) and Head COMSATS Centre for Climate and Sustainability (CCCS), Dr. Mehwish Durani along with her team, held a productive virtual meeting with representatives of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), including Dr. Adel Smeda and Dr. Fahman Fathhurahman, to advance ongoing collaboration between the two organizations.

The discussions focused on a range of upcoming joint initiatives in key thematic areas, including inclusive artificial intelligence (AI), environmental sustainability under ICESCO’s Vision 2030, the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approach, ecosystem restoration, nature-based solutions, circular economy, and leveraging AI and emerging technologies to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

COMSATS and ICESCO also reaffirmed their longstanding partnership and shared legacy of collaboration since 2004, through which the two organizations have jointly organized and supported a number of high-impact conferences, workshops, and training programmes aimed at promoting science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development across the COMSATS-ICESCO common Member States.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further strengthen strategic cooperation and implement impactful initiatives addressing contemporary development challenges.
